HOW TO HELP
Why War Legacies?
The American War in Southeast Asia (known as the Vietnam War in the US) left behind numerous health, environmental, psychological and socio-economic legacies:
Millions of unexploded ordnance litter the countryside continuing to cause injuries and death
Dioxin hot-spots remain at former US military bases throughout southern Vietnam and potentially in Laos
Tens of thousands suffer from illnesses and disabilities believed to be caused by exposure to dioxin contaminated herbicides
Hundreds of thousands of acres of forest land remain in poor condition as a result of war-time defoliation
Nearly 40 years since the end of the war, some of these legacies are just now being addressed. But much more needs to be done.
WLP believes that legacies can be changed. We provide assistance to people who have been affected by war to help them overcome the legacy of the war's impacts and create a new legacy for themselves and their families.
